Often corny but never dumb, Buck Owens and His Buckaroos will always be one of country music's crown jewels. And it's hard to imagine that Buck Owens (lead vocals and guitar), Don Rich (lead guitar and duet vocals), Tom Brumley (steel guitar), Doyle Holly (bass and vocals) and Willie Cantu (drums) ever sounded any better than they did on March 25, 1966 at New York City's Carnegie Hall.
Musical highlights include "Act Naturally," "Together Again," "Love's Gonna Live Here," "In the Palm of Your Hand," "Cryin' Time," "My Heart Skips a Beat," "Under Your Spell Again," "Excuse Me (I Think I've Got a Heartache)" and "Hello Trouble." As for the comedy, I can't help but laugh out loud every time Buck introduces his legendary steel guitarist this way: "You talk about people that don't know nothin', here's an ol' boy don't even suspect nothing!" |
